I have a question for you that may be difficult for you to answer- who are you? Don’t answer with your job title or what you do for a living but think about who you are. This question was difficult for me to answer and there are still days when I’m not sure how I should be answering. Many of us try to conform ourselves to what society wants us to be or how we want society to see us. Trying to live up to the established norms of success that other people have for us can make us feel burnt out or completely unfilled with life. Instead of doing so, we should think about what makes us feel successful and fulfilled.

Text: Who am I? Ask yourself... who was I before the world told me who I was supposed to be?

To understand who we want to be, we need to shift our perspectives and understand that we define who we are based on our own definition of success. To do so, you need to focus on what you care about and what your values are. Your definition of who you are and your success can change depending on where you are in your journey.

Is your definition of success aligned with you who you want to be? I want to challenge you to take 20 minutes to sit with your thoughts and reflect on the following questions-knowing the answer to these questions will help you decide what success means to you and what changes you need to make in order to feel like your authentic self.

  • What are my values?
  • What do I care about?
  • What things do I hold close?
